About Field Studio

“As both a reader and a writer, this Field Studio class helped me become more attuned to the potential beauty, mystery, and power of words and their arrangement.” Joseph Hiller, Duke University.
Field Studio is a space created by fiction and essay writer and journalist Rose Skelton and poet and anthropologist Nomi Stone to provide a home for academics, writers, and artists to extend their practice and imagination. Field Studio hosts in-person walks, workshops, and experiences during the summer on the Isle of Mull, off the West Coast of Scotland, and classes and manuscript reviews throughout the year online. In collaboration with ecologists, marine biologists, and ornithologists, visitors to Field Studio on the Isle of Mull will roam mushroom forests and explore rock-pools as they bring research, writing, and nature into their creative work.
