This course is for any writer who wants to learn how to more fully integrate personal material into their nonfiction work and would be particularly suited to academics looking to include their own story in their projects. By focusing on narrative movement, tension, syntax, narrative distance, and time, you will be able to decide which details in your life can be used to engage with your ideas. By the end of this course, you will have learned how to write original, well-made, and vivid essays, books and papers with a voice that is uniquely yours.

This intimate four week course will meet once a week on Fridays as a group (maximum 6 places) for craft discussion and writing time, and be followed each week with writing feedback via one-to-one mentorship with the instructor, creative nonfiction writer Rose Skelton.
